Gietrzwald
é um lugar para a prece e a meditação e conhecido em função das aparições da
Santíssima Vigem MAria a duas meninas: Barbara Samulowska, e Justyna Szafrynska
em 1877.
O
Santuário de Nossa Senhora é situado em Gietrzwald, uma vila pequena nas
regiões de Warmian e de Mazurian, Polônia, a somente 18 quilômetros
de Olsztyn (a cidade importanta da região de Warmian) e 200 quilômetros
de Warsaw. A Basilica menor e o conjunto de edifícios sagrados levantam-se fora
da paisagem pitoresca da vila, do prado, e dos campos. O Santuário Mariano é
cercado pela floresta, na de qual se encontra um bonito lago. A paisagem típica
desta parte da região de Warmian e de Mazurian é composta dos montes e das
ravinas da moraine, através das quais os rios de Pasleka e de Gilwa fluem.
Gietrzwald
é o lugar ideal para todos os peregrinos e turistas permanecerem em descanso,
em recolhimento espiritual, e ematmosfera calma. Tal lugar fornece a
experiência autêntica de encontrar-se com nossa senhora. Foi em Gietrzwald que
nossa senhora, durante o período de suas aparições, fzz o apelo mais forte para
a oração do rosário. Assegurou também aos crentes de sua presença permanente
neste lugar.

O ícone
de Nossa Senhora com Jesus, pintado por um artista do Século XVI, situa-se no
altar principal da Igreja de Gietrzwald. Este ícone foi inspirado pelo ícone
perdido e famoso de Nossa Senhora, que a tradição atribui a São Lucas.

The Place Worth Visiting
The Minor Basilica – On the 31th of March 1500, Jan Wilde, the first bishop of
Warmia consecrated the church in Gietrzwald. In 1568 this Gietrzwald
Church was designated as the Church of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The
main altar was consecrated by bishop Marcin Kromer on September 29th 1580. At
that time, the statue of Our Lady of Sorrows, which was sculpted in 1425, was
placed at the altar.
Arnold Guldenphenning made additions to the church building between 1878 and
1884. During that period, the pastor of the parish was Father August Weichsel,
who also witnessed and provided evidence of the visionary events following the
apparitions of Our Lady in 1877.
The church contains an historical organ,
built in the 19th century and rebuilt in 1875 by Johann Rohn from Orneta.
The Stations of the Cross – The Stations of the Cross are located in the
picturesque landscape near the forest. This site encourages pilgrims to
meditate on the passion of Jesus Christ.
The Shrine of the Apparitions with the Statue
of the Immaculate Conception of Mary – This is the most important place in the
Marian Shrine. The Shrine of the Apparitions was built by special request from
Mary.
The Rosary Alley – This path leads to the Miraculous Spring. In the Rosary
Alley, pilgrims walking to the Miraculous Spring to receive healing, recite the
rosary, an activity strongly encouraged by Mary.
The Pilgrim House – For pilgrims who wish to
stay at the Marian Shrine in Gietrzwald, the Pilgrim’s Hostel is a pleasant
place to rest, meditate in the chapel, and enjoy a meal in the comfortable
dining room.

- Gregorian - requests for petitions and thanks in the Minor Basilica or sent
by mail
The devotions celebrated in the Minor Basilica
- The Rosary: every day at 6:30a.m., 12:00 noon, and 5:30p.m. (4:30p.m. from
November to March)
- The devotion to Our Lady of Gietrzwald: every first Saturday after the
7:00a.m. mass
- The Jasna Gora Appeal: every day at 9:00p.m. (from April to September)
